Award of Degree and CGPA

The formula for conversion of equivalent percentage of CGPA/CPI:

An equation to find equivalency between CPI/CGPA may be obtained as
follows:

      Percentage Marks = (CPI/CGPA-0.5) X10.

CPI/CGPA Equivalent Class shall be as follows:
  •  Below 5.5: Pass class
  •  5.5 & above: Second class
  •  6.5 & above: First class
  •  7.1 & above: First class with distinction

Award of Degree.

  •  For all courses, where the duration of the course is more than 2 years, thedegree shall be awarded to the students on the basis of  CGPA(Cumulative Grade Point Average)  of the last four  semester’sperformance in the exams.
  •  In case of the courses where duration is of two years, the degree shall beconferred to students  based upon CPI (Cumulative  Performance  Index)considering all the four semesters performance.

Evaluation for Final Year Project(IDP/UDP)

The final year students are confused about the evaluation of their project work. Here is the table describing the weightage of the project for the final year.

Semester
Credits
Marks
Details
7th
4
150
50 marks for project defination
8th
8 or 12
400
100 marks for internal exams and 300 marks for University exams

Please note that project is a compulsary subject and if worked upon properly with more concentration, you can achieve better grades in last year which will directly increase your CGPA.

Also find that the project defination carries 50 marks on itself so select a better project defination. The student is supposed to submit project defination to HOD of your respective fields in the first week of  7th Semester.It would be evaluated by the college itself which would be sent to GTU afterwards.

Industrial Development Project/User Development Project

According to the latest news, instead of final semester training,GTU has decided to include final year projects based on his/her field called as Industrial Defined Project/User Defined Project.

Also they have subjects to study in their respective semester, whereas project would be a subject too.GTU calls IDP/UDP as a compulsary subject for all students of final year.As other subjects,IDP also has credits. These credits may vary depending upon your respective fields.

This IDP is to be obtained from some company, industry, organization or individual.
IDP maybe completed in 1 year or you can select 2 projects for 1year to be completed in 2 semesters respectively. This may vary depending upon your college rules, please confirm about it from your college.

After completion of your 6th  Semester exams, students have to conduct Sodhyatras for IDP,for this you can visit GTU. For conducting a sodhyatra you need a college letter as NOC,depending upon your field contact industries, companies or organizations and get Project Defination from them.

Good Luck.

If u need some more help or have any query regarding IDP please post it as comment.
